The Role: The Observability Engineer will support the Platform Operations team in maintaining and enhancing observability across M&G's cloud platforms, ensuring system performance, reliability, and availability. This includes assisting in the implementation and management of monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting solutions, while proactively identifying issues through dashboards and alerts. The role involves working closely with L2 and L3 engineers to investigate incidents, support root cause analysis, and onboard applications and services into the observability ecosystem.
You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to embed observability best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as alert optimisation, dashboard standardisation, and automation. The role provides exposure to a wide range of technologies including Azure, container platforms, APIs, and enterprise tools, enabling you to build strong foundational skills while contributing to platform stability and operational excellence.
As part of a globally distributed team, you will work in a collaborative "one team" environment supporting UK and Asia Pacific regions, including flexible working where required. You will also ensure adherence to operational standards, security policies, and compliance requirements while contributing to documentation, runbooks, and process improvements to support a scalable and future-ready observability framework.
