About the role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Recovery Coordinator - Group Worker to join our Recovery Steps Cumbria team. This is an exciting opportunity to support individuals affected by drug and alcohol use throughout their recovery journey. As part of a busy and supportive team, you will manage a caseload of service users while also leading and delivering a diverse programme of structured recovery groups designed to promote engagement, wellbeing and sustained recovery. You will use evidence-based psychosocial interventions to help individuals develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to make positive and lasting changes in their lives. This role is based across our Barrow-in-Furness and Kendal sites, and the successful candidate will be expected to work from both locations to support service delivery across Recovery Steps Cumbria.

Responsibilities

As a Recovery Coordinator - Group Worker, you will:

Manage a caseload of service users from assessment and engagement through to sustained recovery.

Develop, deliver and continuously improve a range of innovative structured recovery groups.

Deliver both one-to-one and group-based psychosocial interventions tailored to individual needs.

Use approaches such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ITEP and other recovery-focused interventions to support positive outcomes.

Carry out assessments, recovery planning, risk assessments and safeguarding interventions.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, carers and partner agencies to support recovery progression.

Promote peer support opportunities and visible recovery across the service.

Encourage service users to build recovery capital through education, training, employment, volunteering and community engagement opportunities.

Maintain accurate records and contribute to effective case management using electronic systems.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience supporting people with complex needs, ideally within substance misuse, mental health, criminal justice, housing or a related field.

Has experience delivering group work, workshops, training sessions or therapeutic interventions.

Is confident building positive relationships and motivating individuals towards change.

Can manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.

Understands safeguarding, risk management and person-centred approaches.

Is committed to delivering high-quality support and achieving positive outcomes for service users.

A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards this qualification, is essential.

A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous due to travel requirements across the service area.
