On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
Education: Graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certification.
AND
Experience: Have three years of experience in electrical maintenance, installation, repair or building construction electrical work.
OR
Equivalency Notes: Have six (6) months of additional experience in electrical maintenance, installation or repair work or in building construction electrical work may be substituted for each year of the high school or GED requirement.
Completion of one (1) year of the required coursework in an electrical curriculum in an accredited high school or vocational school may be substituted for six months of the experience requirement.
Successful completion of an electrical mechanic apprenticeship program registered with the Maryland Apprentice and Training Council may be substituted for one (1) year of the experience requirement.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical lighting and distribution systems and other standard electrical equipment.
Knowledge of current national electrical codes and standards.
Journeyman skill in the trade.
Ability to operate hand and power tools used in electrical work.
Ability to layout routine electrical systems and to read and interpret sketches and drawings.
Ability to make estimates of time and materials.
Ability to train and deal with others effectively.
Ability to complete routine forms and maintain records.
Employees may be required to provide their own hand tools.
BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month.
ELIGIBILITY
