The role of our Director of College & Postsecondary Success is central to ensuring our scholars reach college by building the academic, career, and leadership potential of students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. As Director of College & Postsecondary Success, you're motivated to partner with families, teachers, and school leadership to provide the support and resources high school students need to achieve their goals in and out of the classroom -- and gain admittance to top-tier colleges and universities. Our direct work with students is complemented by collaborations with the CIP Alumni Team and diverse community partners that address systemic barriers impacting students' holistic progress and success. The Director of College & Postsecondary Success will be hired by and report to the Director of Postsecondary Success. What You'll Be Asked To Do Deliver exceptional academic results by using a data-driven approach to make decisions, stay relevant with, and apply content expertise to improve student outcomes. Manage school-based college staff (two senior Postsecondary College Counselors and one junior Postsecondary College Counselor) towards effective guidance on academic programs, scheduling, and NYS Regents diploma-earning for all scholars on their pathway to graduation Work with each College Access Team team member to set clear, measurable, outcome-oriented goals for the year and plan professional development opportunities around those college-aligned goals Guide all scholars and their families through college research, application, admittance and ensure they ultimately graduate from high school with college options that best fit their personal, social, academic and financial needs with the goal of 95% of seniors matriculating directly to college Set strategy for and lead engaging, meaningful College Readiness for Families nights attended by the vast majority of families with scholars in grades 11 and 12 Ensure scholars have excellent non-academic opportunities in high school by effectively guiding Junior Counselor strategy for summer opportunities, year-round internships, and liaising with high school leadership and afterschool program leaders Authentically encourage academic growth in foundational skills such as organization, metacognitive awareness, social-emotional learning, self-advocacy, cooperative group partnerships, and technology use Drive focus areas on college planning, personal management and leadership, academic skill development, career exploration, and socioemotional development Design, execute and monitor systems that ensure an efficient and effective college application process Partner with Postsecondary Success teammates to ensure strong utilization of Coney Island Prep's PRIDE Promise scholarship program Collaborate with the entire Postsecondary Success Team to ensure your impact lasts throughout scholars' college careers and beyond Develop and execute a strategic plan for creating a college-going culture, including planning targeted, strategic college visits aligned to the 9-12th grade scope and sequence Oversee and manage the comprehensive grade 9-12 College Readiness curriculum Strategically plan by partnering with Alumni Support Team to ensure seamless transition from college decisions to matriculation in the fall Collaborate and co-lead to navigate across departmental and institutional layers to achieve challenging goals and advance our mission. Build and maintain personal relationships with colleges and universities in NYC, NYS and beyond, ensuring Coney Island Prep is known by and in relationship with top tier institutions Manage team to build and maintain relationships with colleges and universities, summer programs, and corporate partners to ensure scholars have opportunities for internship and exposure experiences throughout grades 9-12 Partner with Princeton Review to ensure that juniors score an average of 1070 or above on the SATs, including the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math sections Manage and maintain a relationship with the College Board Operate with effectiveness by leading with a systems orientation to drive long-term, sustainable results. Participate in high school leadership team meetings to ensure college-going culture is seamlessly woven into the fabric of Coney Island Prep High School Support with planning and execution of key high school student events, including Graduation, Signing Day, and College Week Manage the College Access Team budget Ensure College Access Team is woven into the culture
