ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Depending on area of assignment: Maintains gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air conditioning, electrical, and other automotive systems in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and requirements and departmental procedures. Provides roadside assistance and emergency repairs outside of garage. Provides preventive maintenance and fueling services in the field. Performs road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment before and after repairs, modifications, and service. Ensures proper preventive maintenance service is performed in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and requirements. Ensures tools, equipment and garage area are clean and orderly maintained. Enters maintenance data into the Fleet Management Information System. Creates and completes work orders. Enters notes and comments. Requests parts as required. Attends work on continuous and regular basis. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS May operate a fuel/lube/service or tow truck. May deliver motor vehicles to dealerships/vendors for specialized maintenance and warranty repairs. May shape, design, and weld equipment and materials on occasion. Attends training seminars as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
