The Impact You Will Have in This Role As a Software Engineer at DTCC, you will design, build, and support Java - based backend applications that power the firm's Clearing and Settlement platforms, which are critical to the stability of global financial markets. This is a highly technical, hands - on role focused on backend engineering, system reliability, and performance in a large - scale enterprise environment. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle-from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support-ensuring solutions meet rigorous standards for reliability, scalability, data integrity, security, and maintainability. You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, and business partners to solve complex problems, modernize application components, and continuously improve how teams design, build, and operate software. Your Primary Responsibilities : Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications in alignment with functional and non - functional requirements Build high - quality, maintainable Java code following established design and coding standards Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure application correctness, performance, and reliability Contribute to the design and implementation of application components and services Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions, helping to drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement Create and maintain clear system and technical documentation Partner with subject matter experts, architects, and peers to review and refine technical designs and specifications Apply appropriate software development methodologies (Agile, iterative, or waterfall) based on project needs Support CI/CD practices, including automated builds, testing, and deployments Provide production support as needed, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and issue resolution Embed risk and control considerations into day - to - day development activities, escalating concerns as appropriate
