Process Mechanical Intern

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers, the intern will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to:
• Support mechanical and process engineering activities across a range of infrastructure and industrial consulting projects.
• Prepare and develop engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, reports, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and drawings in accordance with established standards and procedures.
• Assist with the development of process layouts, equipment specifications, and mechanical system designs.
• Apply mechanical engineering fundamentals to evaluate design alternatives and support technical decision‑making.
• Coordinate with engineers from other disciplines (civil, electrical, structural, instrumentation, etc.) to support integrated project delivery.
• Participate in internal coordination meetings and design reviews.
• Assist with field investigations, site visits, and data collection activities to better understand existing facilities and operating conditions.
• Follow quality control processes and contribute to meeting project schedules and deliverable requirements.
• Progressively complete assigned work with increasing independence after initial guidance and review.
• This position provides a broad, well‑rounded learning experience with increasing responsibility as skills and confidence develop.

• Minimum Requirements
• Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, with the intent to return to school following the internship unless graduating.
• Completion of at least three (3) years of undergraduate study at the time of application.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
• Familiarity with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar software.
• Interest or exposure to model‑based or 3D design coordination workflows.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong time‑management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple assignments.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality engineering work.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Interest in pursuing a long‑term career in engineering consulting and professional engineering licensure (P.Eng.).
• Relocation is not available for this position.

The internship is designed to provide hands‑on, practical engineering experience that complements academic learning and supports the transition from student to professional engineer.
