Your Role at Cabot: Cabot Corporation is seeking a Sr Network Engineer / Architect to join the Digital Security team at either Cabot location: Alpharetta, GA, Boston, MA or Billerica, MA. Reporting into the Digital Security organization, this role ensures the network operates as a security-aligned control plane, enabling Zero Trust, segmentation, and modern access models across IT and OT environments. The Senior Network Engineer / Architect is responsible for the end-to-end ownership of the enterprise network platform, including architecture, engineering, implementation, security and ongoing operation. This role operates with a dual mandate: Ownership of the network platform as a core enterprise capability Alignment of network architecture and operations to enterprise security principles This role is accountable not only for defining the network platform, but for ensuring its successful implementation, security, and operation across the enterprise. This role is based at either Cabot location ( Alpharetta, GA, Boston, MA or Billerica, MA), but is eligible to participate in the current Hybrid Working Arrangement program (Monday/Friday remote and Tuesday-Thursday in office). Travel : domestic and international travel up to 15% to support global site rollouts, cutover events, and stakeholder engagements. Off-hours availability when issues arise during planned cutovers, maintenance windows, and critical incident response. How You'll Make an Impact: Platform Ownership & Security Alignment Owns the global enterprise network platform (LAN, WAN, wireless, remote access, voice, and perimeter services). Ensures network architecture and operations are aligned to enterprise security principles and risk tolerance. Establishes and enforces global network standards, design patterns, and implementation models. Ensures the network operates as a security-aligned control plane, not solely a connectivity service. All network designs and implementations must be consistent, repeatable, and enforceable across regions and environments. Platform Engineering & Delivery (Hands-On) Lead and directly execute global network engineering and modernization initiatives across firewalls, switching and routing, wireless infrastructure, and voice/collaboration platforms. Design, configure, and implement network solutions aligned to defined architecture, standards, and enterprise security principles. Plan and execute site deployments, migration activities, cutover events, and post-deployment stabilization (hypercare). Develop and maintain network design documentation, runbooks, operational procedures, and as-built configurations. Coordinate with regional IT teams, managed service providers, and vendors to deliver consistent global implementations. Act as the point of escalation for managed service providers on network and security-related issues, providing technical direction and driving resolution of complex or systemic problems. Primary Responsibilities Own the global network platform model (architecture → standards → implementation → operation). Define and maintain the target-state network architecture and modernization roadmap (SD-WAN, SASE, cloud networking). Lead network technology selection, lifecycle management, and rationalization. Ensure alignment of network engineering and operations to enterprise security strategy (Zero Trust, segmentation, access control). Define and enforce network segmentation and secure access patterns across IT and OT environments. Provide hands-on engineering leadership for complex network design, implementation, and problem resolution. Govern MSP-delivered network services, ensuring execution aligns to standards, SLAs, and architectural intent. Define operational expectations, validation requirements, and acceptance criteria for network changes and deployments. Ensure the network supports logging, telemetry, detection, and response requirements. Support secure integration between enterprise IT and manufacturing/OT environments.
