Job Description Salary up to £50,400 (£42,000 + 20% shift allowance) depending on experience Renishaw are offering an exciting opportunity with responsibility for the development, support and improvement of printed circuit board assembly and test processes. The manufacturing environment is dynamic, high mix and high volume employing a vast range of technologies & materials and the latest generations of automated process equipment. This position will give the right candidate a chance to make their mark and significantly impact the capability, productivity and efficiency of production lines that create assemblies critical to the success of every major product line in Renishaw's business. This is a varied position and consequently requires the demonstration and development of several different skills (PCBA-industry technical, structured problem solving, data analysis, communicating at different levels). The responsibilities of this position include: The investigation of process problems and root-cause analysis, with the implementation of robust corrective action within challenging deadlines Continuous improvement activities within the supported areas using fact-based metrics Analysis of process performance data to justify improvement actions Proactive process development (process robustness, product cost reduction, cost of quality reduction, process control enhancement, efficiency improvement and process modelling, waste reduction, and process deskilling) The creation and validation of PCBA manufacturing processes / recipes to best industry practices on leading automated platforms. Please note that this is a Double Day shift-based role: week 1 - 6am - 2pm, week 2 - 2pm - 10pm Key requirements The minimum of a degree level of education (2:1 or above) in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. electronics engineering, manufacturing systems, mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics etc.) or HNC/HND level education plus relevant experience A high level of PC literacy Desirable requirements Printed circuit board (PCB) assembly process / production experience PCB electrical test process support / creation experience Successful application of structured problem solving and statistical analysis techniques (e.g. Six Sigma) Awareness of lean manufacturing tools and techniques and an understanding of production metrics (productivity, efficiency, waste) Person specification Ability to work well in both a team, sharing ideas and coordinating actions, as well as autonomously, managing your own activities and meeting deadlines. Good activity priority management Ability to spot potential areas for improvement irrelevant of current tasks Hands on practical ability Maintain a positive can-do attitude Ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-pressure environment Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
