About the role

Our Transmission group is currently looking to add a Supervisor, Small Tools Program to our team, based in Headingley (Winnipeg), MB. Reporting to the Fleet Business Manager, we are seeking an experienced and operationally focused leader to oversee the day-to-day operation of Valard's small tools program. This position leads the Tool Coordination team, implements standardized processes across all project tool cribs, owns procurement governance and training, and ensures tools and equipment are available, certified, and well-maintained across yards and projects. Duties and Responsibilities Team Leadership Lead, coach, and develop the Tool Coordination team across yards and regions, driving consistency in process, data quality, and execution while serving as the subject matter expert on small tools for the business unit Regularly travel across Canada to monitor regional tool cribs and set up project tool cribs at the start of new projects Project Tool Cribs, Standards & Travel Implement standardized small tools processes across all project tool cribs; travel to project sites at start-up to set up tool cribs, train site personnel, and conduct regular regional site visits to monitor compliance and drive corrective actions Inventory, Maintenance & ToolWatch Oversee inventory of tools, small equipment, and safety supplies across storage, trucks, and project tool cribs; own ToolWatch at the program level including data integrity, user adoption, cycle counts, and utilization reporting Define standard tool kits and storage standards by crew type; oversee certification, calibration, and preventative maintenance schedules and evaluate tools for repair, replacement, or retirement Procurement Governance & Training Own small tools procurement governance including purchasing standards, approval thresholds, and vendor compliance; review and approve purchase requests and provide budget input to the Fleet Business Manager Develop and deliver training for Tool Coordinators, Supervisors, Foremen, and field users on ToolWatch, procurement processes, and tool care and maintenance Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with Operations, Project Management, Supervisors, Foremen, and HSE to align on tool demand, availability, PPE, and related inventory programs across active projects High School diploma (or equivalent) An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered 5 years of related experience Experience leading a team Experience with tools and equipment used in utility / construction environment Proven knowledge of standards and procedures for testing and maintenance of tools Proficiency with inventory management systems (ToolWatch or equivalent) and strong computer and reporting skills Ability and willingness to travel regularly across Canada to field project sites and regional yards Preferred Skills / Qualifications Post-Secondary education in operations, supply chain, business, or a related field Previous experience leading a tools or asset function in a construction or utility environment Hands-on experience administering ToolWatch including configuration and reporting This position offers an hourly rate of $45 - $60 dpending on experience and qualifications.
