Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform the common tasks of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic. Ability to remove, adjust, replace, clean, and install a variety of parts, components, and accessories to include filters, radiators, bearings, springs, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders, starter motors, pumps, mufflers, and other items of similar complexity. Ability to perform engine tune-ups and adjust brakes. Ability to assist in the removal, disassembly, repair, and reassembly of engines and transmissions. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works for long periods in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Work often requires standing, stooping, crouching, bending, and stretching. There is frequent lifting of items weighing up to ten pounds and occasionally items weighing 45 pounds and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. However, hoists, hand trucks, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. The work is performed on top of, under, and in tight compartments of equipment in cramped or awkward positions. WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee is exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise. Dirt, dust, and grease are always present. Exposure to wet and cold weather conditions. Exposure to exhaust fumes, cuts, bruises, burns, strains, and electrical shocks.
