Graduated from a law enforcement academy. Required
Work Experience
2 years Law enforcement experience with current agency if presently employed as an officer or retired status with a Law Enforcement Agency with firearms permit from a sponsored Law Enforcement Agency. Required
AND
Is or was authorized by their employing federal, state, or local agency to carry a firearm
Is in good standing with the applicable federal or state law enforcement regulatory agency
Meets standards, if any, established by the agency which require the employee to regularly qualify in the use of a firearm
Included is a military police officer who is similarly trained and possessed apprehension authority under the Uniform Code of Military Justice
Included is a Correctional Officer who served in an armed position, such as Correctional Emergency Response Team or Court Transport and successfully completed mandatory training for that position within their agency
Is not under the influence of alcohol or another intoxicating or hallucinatory drug or substance
Is not prohibited by Federal law from receiving or purchasing a firearm. Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Required
Licenses and Certifications
Firearms Permit - TPD - Must be qualified with firearm in accordance with the KS C-Post weapons qualifications course. Required
Must maintain firearm certification through their Law Enforcement Agency. Must provide own semi-automatic firearm that is acceptable by the Stormont-Vail Healthcare Security Policy.
Must successfully complete and pass a psychological assessment sponsored by Stormont Vail Health prior to employment. On a contingent basis officers may work pending the outcome of their assessment but are not allowed to carry firearms.
Drivers License - DMV - Current Valid Driver's License and Clean MVR with 3-year baseline and annual MVR review Required

This position will assist in the education and enforcement of regulations, policies, and laws that contribute to the safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees of the Medical Center.
JOB DUTIES
Essential Duties
Enforces regulations, policies, and laws that contribute to the safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees of the medical center.
Performs routine security patrols in the Emergency Department lobby and the outside entrance to the Emergency Department, in order to prevent thefts, destruction of property, disorderly conduct, and other adverse incidents on SVH property.
Performs security related functions, including but not limited to report writing, CCTV monitoring, and patient assists.
Responds to escalating and combative patient and visitor situations as necessary in the front lobby of the Emergency Department.
Attends workshops, classes, and seminars to maintain their proficiency and assure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
