As SMS Risk Focal on Site you will be responsible for managing hazards within the assigned plant and serving as a key liaison among Compliance, Supply Chain, Product Quality, Operations, and SMS. Working in close partnership with cross-functional teams, you will lead investigations and the hazard management process from a Safety Risk perspective, supporting teams in defining actions required to ensure residual risk acceptability in accordance with company procedures. You will also coordinate mitigation activities, maintain hazard records, and support the organization in strengthening its Safety Management System (SMS), safety culture, and compliance readiness. In addition, you will participate in operational rhythms to help identify threats, hazards, and potential risk consequences related to products, services, and systems. This role reports directly to the Safety Risk Management Leader. Job Description Essential Responsibilities Manage and update the hazard log and SAT records with accuracy and discipline Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective hazard read-across across processes, products, and organizations Lead preliminary investigations engaging risk owners, by gathering data, facts, and supporting evidence Collect and review reports, inputs, and operational signals related to potential safety hazards Evaluate incoming information and record identified hazards in the hazard log, including classification and traceability Support preliminary work preparation and present hazard cases to the Safety Action Team (SAT) for formal risk assessment Coordinate, track, and monitor risk mitigation action plans, including escalation when required Apply FLIGHT DECK standards in daily management and operational routines Support the SMS team with trend analysis, safety metrics, safety culture initiatives, and customer/regulatory audits Actively participate in daily shop floor operating rhythms to foster strong cross-functional collaboration and engagement Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a technical discipline Previous experience in the aerospace and defense organizations, in one or more of the following areas: Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Quality, Safety, Quality Management Systems Knowledge of aviation regulations and standards Knowledge of problem-solving and LEAN methodologies Strong inspection and investigation capability Understanding of management systems, including compliance monitoring systems Understanding of risk analysis and assessment methodologies Understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Human Factors Fluent Italian and English Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is required Desired Characteristics Pragmatic, fact-based decision-making Ability to identify weak signals and emerging safety risks Systems thinking and cross-functional perspective Strong prioritization and decision-making skills High attention to detail, traceability, and record quality Facilitation skills to drive alignment across functions Resilience and independence under operational pressure Sensitivity to human and organizational factors Experience in quality assurance and auditing Effective communication skills Flexibility and adaptability in role execution
