Troubleshoots all processing equipment problems, including washers, sonics, endo processors, cart washers, sterilizers and the instrument tracking system. Seeks ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain work-flow and improve customer service. Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation. Observes personal protective equipment standards in decontamination process. Demonstrates use of Process Improvement Standards (PIS) techniques and philosophies. Performs preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment. Observes personal protective equipment standards in decontamination process. Assists with performance reviews and corrective action for assigned employees. Uses the department's instrument and productivity tracking program to maintain accurate records regarding sterilization and set assembly count-sheets. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma/GED 2 years Experience as a sterile processing environment. Reading, comprehension skills, and able to communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Ability to function efficiently in a changing and stressful environment. Must be conscientious with regard to detail and techniques. Knowledge of medical supplies, surgical instrumentation, sterilization, decontamination, packaging, and process monitoring techniques and principles. Awareness of surgical priorities and service requirements. CSPDT - Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Tech - State of Pennsylvania or CSPM - Certified in Sterile Processing Management - State of Pennsylvania Physical Demands Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
