Job Description: At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money- we're here to move our global customers forward. We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career-we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders. About the Role: Remitly operates offices across 15+ locations in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific - and the threat landscape around those offices has never been more complex. Geopolitical volatility, active conflicts affecting employees and their travel, and rising risk in important markets have created an urgent need for a single, expert owner of our global safety and security program. This is that role. As Principal Program Manager, Safety & Security, you will report to the Director, Global Workplace Services and ensure our preparedness, taking point when the world gets complicated. You will monitor geopolitical risk across our global footprint, advise leadership on active threat situations in markets like the UAE, India, and Central America, and command our incident response when situations escalate. You will also build the physical security foundations that underpin it all: standards, audit-ready documentation, and executive protection protocols across every office location. You will partner with our retained global security consulting partner, which provides 24/7 global security operations center support, high-risk travel intel, and executive protection expertise. A core part of this role is managing that relationship and translating their intelligence outputs into Remitly's programs, escalation protocols, and leadership briefings. This is not reactive security management. It is program ownership - and it requires someone who can operate across physical security, geopolitical risk, employee care obligations, and compliance simultaneously. We're looking for a builder who is energized by global complexity, exercises judgment in high-stakes situations, and knows how to use external security expertise, translating it into programs Remitly can act on. The best security work is largely invisible. The right person for this role is motivated by exactly that. You Will: Maintain a monitoring rhythm for active threat environments, including elevated-risk locations globally. Brief GWS leadership and internal partners before situations escalate, and serve as the primary internal voice on geopolitical risk. Translate complex threat situations into clear, briefings for senior non-security leadership that inform action. Develop security standards, protocols, emergency guides, and audit-ready documentation across all Remitly office locations worldwide. Partner with GWS regional leads to implement and maintain standards at the site level. Oversee security planning for high-risk travel, board meetings, and public events, using our retained global security consulting partner and local security resources. Collaborate with HR, Legal, and Enterprise Risk Management on employee care strategy and policy - including travel safety guidance and high-risk location protocols. Manage escalation paths and communications for active safety and security situations. Create communication templates, response guides, and post-incident reviews. Coordinate with and support Operational Risk Management during enterprise crises. Lead the relationship, performance oversight, service agreement, and escalation routing with our retained global security consulting partner. Evaluate, scope, select and manage additional security vendors and tools, including risk intelligence platforms and emergency communications systems. Deliver audit-ready documentation and control evidence for ISO 27001, the Global Outsourcing Oversight program, and other applicable compliance frameworks. Support Joint State Exams, business license applications, and other regulatory processes as they relate to physical security. You Have: 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate security, global security program management, or related field - with meaningful exposure to geopolitical risk assessment and international threat environments across more than one region. Demonstrated experience monitoring geopolitical risk in markets with active threat dynamics - including conflict zones, political instability, state-actor threats
