The SBI manages the North Carolina Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAAC), which is the fusion center for the state of North Carolina, as well as the Behavioral Threat Assessment Unit, which assesses and manages threats of mass violence. Description of Work The purpose of this position is to process all granted Orders of Expunction for the state of North Carolina. The Expungement Unit is responsible for the review and processing of complex orders and petitions to ensure compliance with applicable statutes, codes and procedures. The Expungement Unit processes on average approximately 128,000 orders and over 3,000 petitions per year, with this number set to increase with potential new legislation. This employee will need to stay abreast of North Carolina General Statute's governing expunction and pardon of criminal records and is responsible for reviewing applicable Expungement guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance with North Carolina general statutes. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Manage confidential information with discretion - Apply North Carolina General Statutes governing expunctions - Use all applications provided by DCI (Division of Criminal History) for investigation, deletion and modification of arrests and court records - Examine information in CCH (Computerized Criminal History) for identification matches, North Carolina arrest segments and arrest charges in other states. - Research and interpret data in AOC (Administrative Office of the Courts) automated files - Analyze information and disseminate it clearly - Scanning and saving legal documents Position/Physical Requirements: - Obtaining Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Network certification within 6 months of hire is required for this position. - Must be a U.S. citizen due to security requirements for accessing SBI applications to which the person in this position must have access.
