Significant progressive leadership experience in hospital or health system operations; prior COO, hospital president, senior operations, or major service line leadership experience strongly preferred.
Extensive track record of improving operational performance in a complex hospital or health system environment, including demonstrated success with throughput, access, cost, and quality metrics.
Deep knowledge of hospital operations, clinical workflows, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, with experience in value-based care and contemporary reimbursement models.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations Driver:
Oversee daily hospital operations, including nursing , pharmacy (inpatient & outpatient), imaging, laboratory, cancer center, joint ventures, and support services including parking and security, environmental services, dietary, transport and volunteer services
Lead efforts to improve patient throughput, capacity, and occupancy, ensuring efficient patient flow, timely access, and optimal utilization of beds, clinicians, and ancillary resources.
Ensure compliance with clinical quality, safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards, integrating these requirements into operating models and performance management routines.
Responsible for ensuring the system is prepared in the event of emergencies, develop business continuity programs and processes, serve as the system's incident commander during crisis incidents.
Drive continuous improvement using data, Lean/process improvement, and standardization to meet or exceed key performance metrics related to quality, cost, experience, and workforce.
Leads and oversees implementation and maintenance of orientation, continuing education, mandatory education and development of the staff to ensure maintenance of all corporate and clinical competencies and to support professional development

The Executive Vice-President (EVP) & Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hospital Operations is the senior executive responsible for leading day-to-day hospital operations while translating the organization's strategic goals into reliable, high-quality execution across all care settings.
This role is central to ensuring that clinical, operational, financial, and workforce performance are tightly aligned to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered care in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
The EVP & COO of Hospital Operations reports to the Chief Executive Officer/President and is responsible for the smooth and efficient operations of the hospital including management of the profit and loss statement for the hospital's business, as well as the resources associated with the hospital operations. The EVP &COO serves as the primary integrator of operations across inpatient, ambulatory, and support services, ensuring that throughput, access, quality, and experience are optimized across the continuum. In partnership with the CEO and executive team, the COO drives operational discipline, builds an aligned culture, and stewards resources to sustain margins while advancing growth and transformation priorities.
Provides oversight and leadership to key functions/services of the organization, including nursing care, throughout the hospital. The EVP & COO ensures that areas of responsibility meet their purpose and are consistent with the mission, philosophy, values, plans, and policies of GBMC and with regulatory and accrediting standards. Provides direction and facilitates the coordination of the following functions: development of hospital-wide patient care programs, participation in the hospital's decision-making structures and processes and involvement in quality improvement programs, leads joint ventures and has leadership responsibility for all employees who work at the hospital.
