A Behavioural Support Worker (BSW) works as a member of the interdisciplinary team, collaborating with the Resident Care Manager, Social Worker, and Occupational Therapist. The BSW provides ongoing encouragement and support to residents with complex behaviors, mental health, behavioural and/or addiction diagnoses and meet individual needs within their level of knowledge, skill sets & competency. The BSW observes, monitors and reports on client status/condition including changes in behavior, mental, emotional, and general physical status. The BSW ensures that changes in resident status are reported to the assigned interdisciplinary staff member.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a complex behavior, mental health or addictions setting.
  • Diploma/degree in Community/Behaviour or rehabilitation-focused background, Addictions, Aboriginal Studies or other related field.
  • Experience in non-violent crisis intervention and behaviour management.
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid, and ASIST would be an asset.
