Pay Range: $36.40 - $47.57 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24 Position Overview SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB) Performs a variety of non-invasive vascular exams for the use in diagnosis of vascular system disorders as directed by a physician to ensure quality patient care. Performs accurate and interpretable transcranial doppler testing in accordance with department policy and procedures. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Maintains equipment, exam rooms and work area in a neat and safe condition, to ensure the safety of patients and employees. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education:High school diploma or equivalent. Experience:Eighteen months vascular experience. Recent hospital experience as a vascular technologist. Minimum six months TCD experience. Ability to perform Transcranial Doppler studies. Other Credentials:AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider Knowledge and Skills:Basic computer skills and ability to use software to perform vascular testing Special Training:Graduate of a vascular technology program. TCD training. Requires appropriate credentialing in vascular testing (RVT, RVS) or must attain appropriate credentialing within six months of employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Demonstrates a thorough understanding of vascular principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes utilizing the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal examinations, as demonstrated by exam results. Adheres to department policies and protocols ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation. Provides accurate interpretable data, relevant clinical history and technical interpretation results for all examinations performed. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of vascular principles and theory, anatomy and pathology processes utilizing the most appropriate technique and positioning for optimal examinations. Documents intracranial velocities at all designated sites from all standard approaches. Prepares and prints a complete report of all transcranial doppler findings with waveforms for physician review. Logs and charges all procedures performed accurately and routes studies to the appropriate physician for interpretation in a timely manner. Notifies immediately referring physician with preliminary results upon identification of potentially critical findings or STAT examination. Maintains an orderly, safe and clean environment. Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and exam rooms are readily available for procedures. Troubleshoots equipment effectively and reports equipment issues to biomedical engineering/vendor. . Administers sound patient care practices according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, to ensure the safety and satisfaction of patients. Communicates effectively to properly identify the patient, obtain a clinical history, explain the procedure and answer any questions. Adheres to proper infection control techniques to maintain established standards for patient safety and satisfaction. Adheres to patient safety practices in the department at all times demonstrated by the use of side rails, braking mechanisms and patient observation. Performs routine maintenance and aseptic cleaning of all patient related equipment to maintain consistent quality and safety. Operates imaging and other related equipment according to manufacturer specifications Retrieves patient files for all previously seen patients and combines with accurately labeled paperwork.
