About this roleWhat a day of a Veteran Specialist looks like:Processes VA certifications for all Title 38 programs in accordance with VA rules and regulations.Receives and processes time sensitive documents required by the College and the VA.Stays current with all VA and State Approving Agency (SAA) policies and guidelines.Evaluates and ensures procedures are compliant with federal state, local institutional laws and regulations.
Assists with outreach and program development for student veterans.
Serves as editor of monthly Military and Veteran services newsletter.
Provides guidance to student veterans regarding programs and services of the College.
Monitors students' schedules revisions for timely reporting to VA. Evaluates and monitors Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for veteran students.
Maintains a working knowledge of other staff members' duties and serves as a backup supervisor for the VA work program as needed.
Conducts or participates in seminars, workshops or training sessions.
Participate in various meetings and committees.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED
One year of related experience
Knowledge of:
VA Enrollment Manager and VA Education Benefits
Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications
Skilled in:
Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management
Promoting cooperative behavior and team efforts
Ability to:
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service
Interact in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the public
Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

The minimum base pay for this position starts at $17.95/hourly; however, the offer may vary based on the candidate's education and experience.
