About the role
The Materials Handler is responsible for various duties including stocking and staging goods and finished goods. Will maintain and organize inventory to ensure accurate data and record of inventory movement. Utilizes hand tools, small power tools and other specialized equipment to perform assigned job. Assembling or reworking units as required. Essential duties and responsibilities: Duties may include but are not limited to: Adheres to all safety rules protocols. Pull and load components slated for assembly onto the line and load fully assembled, boxed products into their designated locations. Claim accountability for high levels of customer service. Accurately record inventory movements, and storage locations for finished goods. Report inventory shortages and overages to supervisor or planner and complete inventory counts as required. Provide back up for all manufacturing/production if needed and warehouse/storage areas for department. Place fully assembled items in boxes and bins after they come off the assembly line, then sort these items into their designated locations. Apply, recommend, and follow Lean practices Perform set-up and operations, such as, burnish, drilling, press assembly, paint, manual assembly, wash parts, wash tanks start-up procedures, magnetize, encapsulation, wire termination, electrical checks, and soldering. Assemble components and position, align, and fasten units to assemblies using hand tools and power tools, including air guns. Perform quality checks, inspect visually and test finished units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer orders requirement and complete and maintain proper production records. Critical Competencies: Reading Comprehension: understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Mathematics: have a basic grasp of mathematics and know how to read measuring devices to perform required assembly and inspection duties. Attention to detail: ability to spot small defects and potential problems in products. Ability to effectively communicate with workforce Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel Ability to manage time Ability to operate tools and equipment listed - Forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, calculator, copier. Education and Experience Requirements : High School education or equivalent, preferred. Minimum 3 months of assembly experience preferred but not required.
