Principal Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ship agent-built features, migrations, refactors, and new product flows into production.
• Embed within engineering teams and deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Design and orchestrate agent ecosystems, including tools, context, evaluations, and feedback loops.
• Transform product and engineering goals into autonomous agent workflows.
• Work across technologies including GCP, Java, Flutter, and Golang to support engineering teams and accelerate delivery.
• Automate patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities across the technology stack, reducing manual effort while maintaining feature delivery velocity.
• Help improve engineering effectiveness through measurable gains in deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and recovery time (DORA metrics).
• Create reusable skills, scaffolds, runbooks, and evaluation frameworks that scale across teams.
• Share best practices and coach engineers through hands-on collaboration.
• Experiment rapidly with new agentic development approaches and tools.
• Measure and improve engineering performance through metrics such as throughput, cycle time, defect rate, and time-to-merge.
• Own outcomes and demonstrate the impact of agentic engineering with data.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems used by real customers.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Aider, or similar.
• Experience working with technologies across our stack, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Java, Flutter, and/or Golang. We value broad coverage across the stack and are open to candidates with deep expertise in one or more areas.
• Proficiency in at least two of the following areas: backend development, frontend development, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or data systems.
• Ability to quickly understand complex codebases and deliver value in unfamiliar environments.
• Experience building, testing, and validating software with a strong focus on quality and measurable outcomes.
• Knowledge of modern software delivery practices including CI/CD, observability, feature flags, incident management, and production operations.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify when AI agents provide leverage and when simpler solutions are more effective.
• Experience automating engineering workflows, reducing operational toil, and improving software delivery performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
• A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, engineering productivity tools, or automation frameworks.
• Previous experience introducing AI-assisted development practices within engineering teams.
• Contributions to open-source projects, developer tooling, or AI agent ecosystems.
• Familiarity with evaluation frameworks, benchmarking, and measuring AI system performance.
