Lead and assess capital project controls processes, including Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) development, cost estimating and estimate assurance, cost control, forecasting, and project accounting/reporting
Review and validate project budgets, cash flow forecasts, contingency usage, and change management processes to ensure alignment with approved investment objectives
Monitor construction progress, productivity, and physical completion against project schedules, milestones, and execution plans through regular site inspections and progress reviews
Assess contractor performance, construction methodologies, schedule integrity, and critical path risks to identify potential delays or delivery impacts
Review and verify payment certificates, drawdown requests, variation orders, claims, and other commercial drivers that may affect project costs or timelines
Identify emerging project risks, cost overruns, non-conformances, and dispute exposure, while supporting the development and implementation of mitigation strategies
Ensure projects are executed in accordance with technical standards, specifications, permits, QA/QC requirements, and lender obligations
Monitor health, safety, environmental, and social performance, including review of incident reporting, performance trends, and environmental management commitments
Prepare clear, accurate, and timely reporting for senior leadership, lenders, and project sponsors, providing insight into project performance, forecast outcomes, and key risks
Collaborate with finance, technical services, strategic planning, supply chain, IT, and regional project teams to support effective project governance and reporting
Liaise with lenders, sponsors, EPC/EPCM contractors, consultants, and project management teams, and participate in site meetings, technical reviews, and stakeholder discussions
Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and investment stakeholders across major mining, energy, and infrastructure developments, including mining operations, mineral processing facilities, ports and rail infrastructure, power generation/transmission assets, oil & gas facilities, and renewable energy projects.

This is a Principal level role that is to be based in Denver, Colorado, USA.
This role extends beyond traditional construction monitoring for projects. You will provide independent oversight of capital investment performance, project controls, and financial integrity, ensuring that project development, execution, risk exposure, and reporting consistently support investment decision making and corporate strategy. You will play a vital role in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with approved designs, schedules, budgets, environmental commitments and lender obligations.
Acting as the lender's and investor's trusted representative, you will assess schedule, cost, risk, controls maturity, and governance, while influencing continuous improvement in project systems, reporting accuracy, and capital discipline.
