Job Summary The Production Operator is responsible for safely operating and supporting production equipment to package, inspect, and move extruded plastic piping products. This is an entry-level role within the Production Operator job classification. Principal Responsibilities Responsible for organizing and housekeeping of his/her work area. Fully comply with the standard work instructions and procedures for strapping tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead crane and any power and hand tools required. Operate and safely use equipment including coilers, strapping tools, pallet jacks, forklifts, overhead cranes, and hand tools (as trained and authorized). Measure and inspect product quality (appearance, length, diameter, wall thickness) using tools such as calipers and measuring tape (metric and imperial). Perform packaging tasks including reeling, coiling, crating, labeling, and stacking finished products in accordance with quality standards. Report product or equipment issues to the Technician and/or Supervisor promptly. Support line operations including start-up, shutdown, and product changeovers. Handle off-spec product according to procedures (cutting, grinding, reprocessing). Move finished goods to the warehouse or yard using approved material handling equipment. Maintain shift tools and return them to designated storage at shift end. Communicate effectively with team members during shift transitions. Perform other duties as assigned. Health, Safety and Environmental Accountabilities Comply with all Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, WCB requirements, and IPEX policies and procedures. Work safely at all times and participate in required safety training. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and report hazards or deficiencies immediately. Report all incidents, injuries, and near misses without delay. Maintain a clean and hazard-free workspace. Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Experience High school diploma or equivalent; manufacturing experience is an asset. Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English. Basic math skills, including working with fractions. Ability to use measuring tools (calipers, tape measures) in metric and imperial units. Experience with hand and power tools is an asset. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, continuous manufacturing environment.
