Network Security Department
The Network Security Department is responsible for protecting the organisation's network infrastructure from cyber threats while ensuring availability, performance, and compliance. The department works at the intersection of network engineering and cybersecurity, implementing security controls across on premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
The team designs, deploys, and operates network security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, secure access solutions, and network monitoring tools. In close partnership with the Network Engineering and Cybersecurity teams, the department proactively identifies vulnerabilities, remediates security findings, and continuously improves the organisation's overall security posture.
Essential Job Functions
Implement and maintain network-based cybersecurity solutions to enhance the security of network
Support the deployment, configuration and tuning of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems and secure access platforms
Analyse and remediate findings from regular penetration tests and put remediation plan together
Review network vulnerabilities in collaboration with cybersecurity teams and external vendors and drive remediation activities to closure.
Perform security remediation activities including:
Upgrading network device firmware and software
Enabling or disabling security features within network management consoles
Adjusting security policies and configurations to reduce risk
Work closely with Network Engineering to ensure security controls are aligned with network design, performance and availability requirements
Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to align network security controls with enterprise security standards and policies
Preferred Tooling Experience
Next generation firewalls e.g. Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco
Intrusion Detection / Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
Secure remote access or VPN technologies
Security logging and monitoring platform e.g. SIEM tools
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Proven experience in network security engineering or cybersecurity roles with a focus on network infrastructure
Strong understanding of Network protocols e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, routing, switching
Strong understanding of Network security concepts e.g. firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation, access control
Experience remediating vulnerabilities identified through: Penetration testing Vulnerability scanning Security assessments
Hands-on experience configuring and managing network security devices
Ability to work effectively across teams and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple remediation efforts in parallel and prioritize based on risk
