Job Summary
Entry level position, responsible for recruitment and evaluation of prospective students. This position supports all recruitment and yield programs, on-campus and virtually; other duties as assigned by the dean of admission.
Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
Essential Functions
RECRUITMENT (40%):
Develop extensive knowledge about Smith College and present on-campus and/or virtual information sessions regularly
Plan and coordinate approximately 6 - 8 weeks of travel annually to recruit students and manage an assigned geographic territory
Develop knowledge secondary schools throughout in an assigned recruitment territory, visit secondary schools, attend college fairs as assigned
Initiate and maintain effective communication between Smith College and college counselors from a diverse range of high schools
Manage correspondence and conversations with students, parents, counselor, community-based organizations and other constituencies
Contribute to office initiatives as assigned, which may include project-based work under supervisor guidance
ADMISSION READING AND SELECTION (40%):
Read, evaluate, and participate in admission committee work to decide on candidate admissibility for admission to the college in coordination with a team of colleagues under the direction of the Dean of Admission.
Candidates may include first-year applicants, transfer applicants or students applying through Questbridge or Posse programs.
ON CAMPUS AND VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING (10%):
Attend and facilitate recruitment and yield activities as assigned
Lead on workshops for prospective and admitted students on campus or virtually as assigned
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (10%):
Develop skills and connections and pursue professional development opportunities to better understand current issues and challenges in the field of admission and in Higher Education.
Perform other duties as assigned in order to ensure success of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
