Provide technical support and troubleshooting of existing electrical and automation systems (PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, sensors/instruments, valves/motors)
Provide coaching/training to technicians and maintenance staff at the test laboratory
Support the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of new facility electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and emergency power systems
Collaborate with Facilities Engineering, Maintenance, EHS, and Operations teams to support plant operations and minimize downtime
Troubleshoot electrical issues affecting building systems, utilities, and laboratory equipment
Review electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications for new projects and facility upgrades
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and utility providers on electrical work and service interruptions
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and internal policies
Support capital projects, renovations, and expansions by providing electrical engineering input and field oversight
Assist with preventative maintenance programs and reliability improvements
Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for electrical failures
Maintain documentation, drawings, and asset records related to electrical systems
System Maintenance
Ensure existing electrical and automation systems are properly maintained
Analyze the current electrical and automation systems and install base to ensure continued maintainability and support; develop a digital roadmap or masterplan where necessary
Project Management & Execution:
Conduct estimation, and execution of medium to large scale electrical/automation projects
Develop and implement project descriptions, plans, timelines, resource requirements, costs, etc.
Interface with vendors and contractors
Oversee installations and verify compliance with applicable standards
Responsibility for electrical and automation portions of projects
Strategy & Mentorship:
Share expertise and provide training to build the competencies of electrical and automation skills to peers and lower-level employees
Develop electrical and automation strategies for facility expansion and ongoing support
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical training and experience
Experience working with industrial or manufacturing electrical systems
Familiarity with medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
Hands-on troubleshooting of automation and electrical systems
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience supporting facilities or utilities in a manufacturing and/or testing environment
Experience managing or overseeing electrical contractors
