About the role
The Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for leading the measurement and analysis of manufacturing processes, developing processes and related tooling, implementing standard operating procedures, driving continuous improvements in the factory, implementing new technologies, leading and supporting long term initiatives, teaching best practices for engineering and factory execution, and mentoring more junior members of the Manufacturing Engineering Team. The Process Owner's scope of responsibility covers deep knowledge and support for an assigned production process (Assembly, Integration, Testing, or Shipment Preparation) as well as the interaction of their process with the overall factory flow.
Responsibilities
- Process Ownership:
- Root cause and resolve process interruptions to ensure continuous operation
- Create process alerts to drive immediate response and operator awareness
- Provide consistent reporting on process performance following SPC best practices
- Generate and maintain documentation like SOP, Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, Value Stream Maps
- Design and implement tools, fixtures, and procedures to Poka Yoke the process
- Support training operators on process and tooling changes
- Document reported issues for data traceability
- Maintain and improve support management system (JIRA)
- Partner with quality and production teams to ensure process is robust from all perspectives
- Continuous Improvement:
- Collect and analyze key production metrics such as cycle time and yield to identify opportunities for process or quality improvements
- Set process performance targets and control limits, Identify and root cause excursions
- Identify process bottlenecks and take action to alleviate
- Identify repeat issues and drive long term corrective actions
- Lead initiatives to implement process improvements such as 6S, Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma
- What You Bring
- Minimum of Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning new technology quickly
- Experience with factory simulation software, FlexSim preferred
- Experience with assembly automation technologies
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards
- Experience with and passion for Continuous Improvement, Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies
- Capability to apply technical expertise in changeable and varied scenarios
- Analytical skills, including the ability to mine data to draw meaningful conclusions
- Familiarity with Data Analytics best practices and querying raw data sets
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences
- Ability to consolidate information from numerous sources into a plan/direction for the organization
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
