We are proudly part of Japan Post - www.tollgroup.com PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Solution Design Manager supports the design and development of end-to-end supply chain and logistics solutions for customers across assigned countries or business units. The role focuses on hands-on solution development, data analysis, operational design, and commercial support, working closely with senior solution designers, commercial teams, operations, IT, and finance. This position is ideal for a high-potential professional looking to deepen technical solution design skills and progressively take ownership of moderately complex bids, redesign initiatives, and continuous improvement projects. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Solution Design & Bid Support Support the design of end-to-end logistics solutions covering warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and enabling systems. Develop solution components such as layouts, process flows, staffing models, productivity assumptions, and cost models under guidance from senior team members. Participate in RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs by preparing analytical inputs, documentation, and presentations. Ensure solution designs balance customer requirements, operational feasibility, cost efficiency, and service levels. Maintain accuracy and consistency of solution assumptions, data, and documentation. 2. Operations Design & Improvement Assist in designing and improving warehouse and transport operating models for new or existing operations. Support process mapping, time-and-motion studies, capacity analysis, and productivity benchmarking. Participate in solution validation workshops with operations, IT, finance, and other stakeholders. Support solution handover from design to implementation teams, ensuring clarity of scope and assumptions. Assist with post-implementation reviews comparing planned vs. actual operational and financial performance. 3. Continuous Improvement & Analytics (Preferable) Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and basic CI tools (e.g. 5S, standard work, waste identification, basic Kaizen). Analyze operational and financial data to identify improvement opportunities and cost-saving initiatives. Prepare dashboards, models, and reports to track performance, benefits, and improvement outcomes. Support documentation and sharing of best practices, standard templates, and lessons learned. 4. Stakeholder & Commercial Collaboration Work closely with Business Development, Key Account Management, Operations, IT, Procurement, and Finance teams to support solution development. Participate in internal and external meetings, workshops, and customer presentations as required. Provide timely and accurate design inputs to support commercial decision-making and deal qualification. 5. Capability Development & Governance Develop strong foundational skills in solution design, cost modeling, and operational analysis, AI Basic knowledge preferred. Adhere to established design standards, templates, and governance processes. Contribute to maintaining solution libraries, benchmarks, and design tools. Proactively seek learning and coaching from senior team members to build long-term solution design capability. KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES Quality, accuracy, and timeliness of solution design deliverables Contribution to successful bid outcomes and customer solutions Accuracy of assumptions versus operational and financial results Effectiveness of support to implementation and improvement initiatives Personal skill development and progression in solution design capability Previous Work Experience & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related majority. H aving 2 - 5 years of working experience in logistics, supply chain, operations, solution design, or continuous improvement roles. Foundational understanding of: Warehouse operations and transportation models Cost modeling, productivity concepts, and basic financial analysis Supply chain processes and systems (WMS, TMS preferred) Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel (and PowerPoint); modeling experience is an advantage. Exposure to Lean / CI tools or operational improvement projects is desirable. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
