Collaborate closely with hardware, applications and software teams to define, develop, and validate module firmware for assigned products - ensuring alignment between firmware behaviour and system-level performance requirements.
Own the applications engineering perspective in firmware development cycles: translate lab characterization data and customer application insights into actionable firmware requirements and validation criteria.
Lead or contribute to in-lab firmware bring-up and integration testing, working with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues at the hardware/firmware interface.
Develop and maintain firmware test procedures and validation reports that document performance against specification and support customer qualification activities.
Communicate firmware status, risks, and findings clearly to both internal engineering teams and external customers, adapting the level of detail to the audience.
b) Infrastructure & In-House Test Equipment Firmware
Design and develop firmware for in-house test equipment and infrastructure solutions used across the applications and NPI lab environment, with a focus on reliability, repeatability, and ease of use.
Work with the broader applications team to define internal tooling requirements, translating lab workflow needs into embedded firmware features that improve test efficiency and automation.
Maintain and iterate on deployed firmware solutions, incorporating feedback from lab users to enhance functionality and resolve field-identified issues.
Document firmware architecture, configuration procedures, and usage guides to support knowledge transfer and team scalability.
Identify opportunities to standardize and modularize firmware components across multiple test platforms, reducing duplication and accelerating future development cycles.
c) On-Board Copper - CopperEdge Product Portfolio Support
Serve as the applications engineering lead for on-board copper applications within the CopperEdge product portfolio, independently defining test strategies and validating system-level performance across relevant host and module configurations.
Develop and execute signal integrity characterization and compliance testing for on-board copper channels, interpreting S-parameters and link budget data to provide actionable guidance to customers and internal teams.
Partner with customers on CopperEdge design-in activities, providing pre-sales technical support, performance characterizations, and design optimization recommendations across their on-board copper application environments.
Accurately identify application risks, estimate task timelines, and develop project plans that ensure NPI deliverables are met on schedule; communicate status and risks clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute ideas to improve test automation and tooling for on-board copper characterization, and develop technical collateral - application notes, test reports, and design guides - that accelerate customer adoption of the CopperEdge portfolio.
Independently structure problems, challenge results, and recommend solutions based on evidence, with a strong focus on real-world appl
