About the role
Community-Engaged Teaching and Research (CETR) is a part of Educational Innovation in the Office of the Chancellor and promotes ethical experiential learning at Northeastern. The CETR team supports service-learning courses, community-engaged research, and various experiential learning opportunities aligned with curricular objectives. Through student leadership programs, faculty development, and community partnership building, CETR facilitates meaningful experiences on and off-campus. While this team frequently contributes to international dialogues on community-engaged practices in higher education, CETR is also recognized nationally as a top service-learning program. Service-Learning (S-L) is a form of experiential learning for students and a teaching tool for faculty that purposefully integrates their academic coursework with service to meet classroom and community goals throughout the semester. Our Community-Engaged Teaching and Research team collaborates with over 60 faculty members incorporating service or community engagement into 100+ courses each year. Some of our signature programs and events include the S-L Teaching Assistant program, S-L Fellows program, Virtual EXPO, Request for Partnerships process and community partner recruitment, faculty development workshops, and more.
