Under the direction of the Technical Specialist and Manager, perform specimen processing functions and non-technical duties as assigned. Works in various areas of the laboratory, registering patients, collecting samples, and assessing the acceptability of samples for testing. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Performs phlebotomy tasks when applicable at job site Accurately receives and logs in specimens Performs processing tasks accurately and efficiently from the receipt of the specimen until delivered to the designated area for analysis, meeting established turnaround times Processes, prepares lists and packages send out specimens Communicates with other departments effectively Performs clerical duties efficiently Performs set-up and misc. micro duties when applicable at job site. Performs loading and misc. core lab duties Performs maintenance tasks on automated line as required, where applicable Performs and documents Quality Control checks and maintenance Follows established laboratory and hospital policies, for standard precautions, safety and disposal Helps in the training and orientation of new employees under the direction of the Technical Specialist or Manager Other duties as assigned
