About the role
In this role, you will collaborate closely with development and test engineers to create and evaluate innovative optical systems for various platforms, including airborne, maritime, and space applications. Responsibilities
- Work closely with development and test engineers to build and test new optical systems for airborne, maritime and space platforms
- Fabricate and assemble high quality, high reliability and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Develop and implement integration and test fixtures; setup and use existing test equipment, monitor, and report the results.
- Own internal prototyping resources, including mechanical and electrical fabrication equipment
- Manage R+D space from a facilities and organizational standpoint
- Travel to external laboratories and test sites as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years experience as a technician working on complex electro-mechanical assemblies
- Ability to work through R&D tasks with limited oversight (evaluate, design, order materials, execute)
- Experience with building and troubleshooting cables and wiring harnesses.
- Familiar and comfortable with soldering, crimping, assembling cables and connectors
- Basic electrical understanding (able to calculate voltage drop, size wire based on amperage, Ohm's Law, etc.)
- Ability to take ownership of entire rapid prototyping process from start to finish
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
- PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with the alignment and characterization of optical systems
- Experience with 3D printing for prototyping a plus
- Experience operating manual machine tools (milling machine, lathe)
- Experience with test and measurement equipment (Instron, CMM, optical comparator, etc.)
- Familiarity with Mechanical and Electrical Software tools (Solidworks, Altium) and scripting/automation languages (Matlab, Python, Labview)
- US Salary Range
- $86,000 - $114,000 USD
