1 year of experience in a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) accreditation laboratory or other testing laboratory such as educational, research, surveillance, food, environmental, or agriculture is preferred.

Associate's degree required and successful completion of a National Accreditation Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) accredited medical laboratory technician program, OR
Physician Enterprise: Associates degree in Laboratory Sciences (including chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory) is required.
Experience in an accredited lab is preferred.
Medical Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician or eligibility for certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as:
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA)
American Medical Technologies (AMT)
Department of Health, Education and Welfare (HEW)
or other laboratory certifying agency is required.
Certification must be received within 180 days of hire. Colleagues hired prior to January 1, 2017 are exempt from this requirement.

HSHS Holy Family Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The Laboratory Technician performs a variety of laboratory procedures used to diagnose and treat patients, according to established and approved protocols. Tests are performed with the technical supervision of a clinical laboratory scientist/medical technologist, manager, or laboratory director.
The Medical Laboratory Technician, under general supervision, performs routine tests in medical laboratory to provide data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, ensuring validity and accuracy of test results. Analysis performed may range from routine to complex testing, involving all major areas of the clinical laboratory and creating reports for findings.

Education

Must have completed 24 semester hours of science - specifically 6 semester hours in Chemistry, 6 semester hours in Biology, and 12 additional semester hours in a combination of Chemistry, Biology, or Laboratory Technology (with a preference of organic and/or biochemistry and microbiology).
