Essential Functions 1 Performs a wide range of strenuous labor for the streets maintenance activities within the City; sets forms, mixes and pours concrete, spreads and lays asphalt or spreads crack seal for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs and gutters or streets; operates air/jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs. 2 Lays various pipes for storm or sanitary sewers, drains or water mains to ensure proper flow is maintained; loads and unloads tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made. 3 Flags traffic and sets out barricades, cones, or other safety devices to help ensure the safety of the crew and the public. 4 Digs ditches and trenches grading to specific evaluation; trims, shovels, cuts, and cleans up debris and removes vegetation; cleans drainage ditches, inlets, storm drains and sewer lines using various power operated equipment to remove debris or stoppage. 5 Drives dump truck, tractor driven mowers or other equipment to transport tools, equipment, supplies or material to and from the work sites and locations; cuts grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans floors and facility grounds to maintain upkeep of facility, street medians, and vacant lots removing any hazards and ensuring safety of tenants. 6 Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions; fills out timesheets and performs pre-trip inspections. 7 Provides quality customer service by communicating effectively with customers and responding to issues or concerns timely and professionally. 8 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned. Knowledge and Skills 1 Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs. 2 Maintaining and operating hand and power tools. 3 Preparing surfaces and adaptability of surface materials 4 Knowledge of standard colors, configuration, and placement of lane markings and traffic signs 5 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures 6 Ability to read, write, and develop reports. 7 Understanding and following drawings, designs, and other oral or written instructions 8 Performing work using large equipment requiring CDL and adhering to safety standards. 9 Ability to perform heavy labor for extended periods of time. 10 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships. 11 Understanding traffic laws and streets maintenance activities.
