An LDAR Technician is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and environmentally compliant oil and gas operations by identifying, quantifying, and facilitating the repair of fugitive emissions using advanced technologies such as optical gas imaging (OGI). The role includes performing regulatory inspections on a wide range of production equipment, evaluating leak severity, conducting minor repairs when possible, and ensuring proper documentation and follow‑up to meet state and federal compliance requirements. Chevron is accepting online applications for the position LDAR Technician located in Pecos, Texas through June 29th 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Central Time Zone).
This role is critical to the safe and environmentally sound operations of surface maintenance equipment by actively identifying potential fugitive emissions with advanced technology (optical gas imaging camera's) and quickly enacting solutions to limit emissions duration and return to safe state. This position enables Chevron to continue to operate MCBU assets in an ever cleaner and lower carbon solution.
This is a 14/14 rotational position.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Provides knowledge and expertise in fixed equipment including rotating equipment, engines, pumps, piping, valves, vessels, tanks, and flares including inspection, troubleshooting and repair.
Perform OGI covering all MCBU- optical gas imaging regulatory inspections of large array of surface equipment in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards, and operating procedures.
Locate and determine relative severity of light hydrocarbon gas leaks for the purpose of improving facility safety, equipment reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Perform thermography inspections of field equipment/vessels and provide interpretations and maintenance recommendations based on findings.
Adheres to all state and federal regulations.
Perform OGI- optical gas imaging inspections during facility start-up activities and post maintenance activities to ensure facilities are started up in safe/clean manner.
Required Qualifications:
Must be able to work A 14/14 schedule to include hours extending into the weekend and/or holidays if necessary.
Must be able to work independently with minimal daily oversight and support, most field locations are isolated in remote locations. Extreme heat and weather conditions should be expected.
Ability to travel (with some overnight travel expected) to various field locations in a large geographical area.
Strong background and experience in Oil & Gas Operations or Maintenance.
Proficient in PC skills for various computer programs needed to perform job responsibilities, SAP4HANA, PowerBi, Excel, Microsoft Word, etc.
Must be able to travel for work duties. This can include overnight stays to cover area work needs.
