GS-7: To be eligible at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. - Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing routine legal assistance tasks in a legal environment that require knowledge of litigative procedures. Specialized experience includes: Preparing routine legal documents such as motions, notices, subpoenas, proposed orders, and standard correspondence; Supporting the discovery process by indexing and organizing discovery materials; transmitting discovery productions; maintaining discovery logs; and tracking productions to opposing counsel; Assisting with hearing and trial preparation by compiling, organizing, and indexing evidentiary exhibits; preparing witness and exhibit lists; and assembling trial notebooks; Supporting case development and preparation by conducting legal or factual research of limited scope and preparing written summaries of evidentiary materials; Assisting with trial preparation and courtroom presentations by preparing trial exhibits such as charts, graphs, and timelines and presenting trial exhibits in court using trial presentation software. - Education: Successful completion of one (1) full year of progressively higher-level graduate education (18 semester hours or the number of units your school uses to describe one graduate year of academic study) in related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Law or Legal Studies, Political Science, Government, History, English) leading to a master's degree OR bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement. Superior academic achievement is as follows: standing in the upper third of your graduating class or major subdivision OR membership in one of the national scholastic honor Societies; OR Grade Point Average. Applicants must have a grade point average of: (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. - Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, a combination of specialized experience and graduate-level education as described above, which when combined equal 100% of the requirements. GS-9: To be eligible at the GS-9 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a Combination of Education and Experience. - Specialized experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing litigation support tasks under supervision and guidance in support of discovery that require a working knowledge of processing, reviewing, or producing commonly encountered electronically stored information (ESI). Specialized experience includes: Managing discovery materials in multiple formats, including receiving, indexing, and organizing incoming discovery; and preparing, transmitting, and tracking outgoing discovery productions; Assisting attorneys by reviewing discovery or evidentiary materials and identifying information relevant to assigned criminal or civil cases; Conducting factual and legal research of defined scope in support of assigned criminal or civil cases, using legal research databases and publicly available sources; Drafting legal documents and correspondence such as requests for extensions, letters transmitting discovery, routine notices, and written summaries of witness statements or documentary evidence; Assisting with hearing or trial preparation by preparing trial subpoenas, assembling evidentiary exhibits, maintaining witness lists and schedules, and preparing demonstrative exhibits; Supporting attorneys during court proceedings or other live case presentations by operating trial presentation software and equipment to display exhibits or demonstratives, maintaining exhibit accounting systems, and coordinating w
