Phase 1 Curriculum Coordinator - School of Medicine The Phase 1 Curriculum Coordinator oversees the planning, coordination, and day-to-day execution of the first 14 months of the BYU School of Medicine curriculum. This role manages the phase 1 calendar, supports faculty and instructors in course delivery, and helps ensure smooth operation of learning activities. The position also maintains curricular records, syllabi, and standard operating procedures while supporting curriculum committee processes and continuous quality improvement efforts important to accreditation. As part of the Phase 1 team, this role also helps manage student attendance in Phase 1 and provides cross-functional support to the Phase 1 curriculum team. This role will also play an important part in supporting and fostering a spiritually enriching environment where students can deepen their testimonies of Jesus Christ while preparing for a lifetime of service as Christ-centered physicians. What you will be doing in this position Curricular Systems Management Manages and coordinates Phase 1 curriculum delivery, ensuring accurate and timely execution of courses and learning activities. Manages the official Phase 1 academic calendar, including coordinating sessions, assessments, and key academic events for all phase 1 students and faculty. Manages the Learning Management System (LMS) for curriculum (VidaNovaVLE). Trains new students and faculty on how to use the LMS during new student orientation and new faculty onboarding. Manages permissions, roles, and user responsibilities within the LMS. Works with the Senior Curriculum Administrator to monitor and implement overarching curriculum structure, processes, and quality improvement. Curriculum Instructor Management Serves as the primary operational contact for Phase 1 instructors, including clinical affiliate faculty, facilitators, and guest lecturers. Assists in the onboarding of clinical affiliate faculty and oversees the classroom logistics and instructional technology. Trains and supports faculty in how to best prepare and deliver instructional materials to students through the LMS (VidaNovaVLE), including syllabi, lecture slides, reading materials, and other essential instructional materials. Curriculum Policies, Processes, and Committee Management In collaboration with the Curriculum Committee, the Director of Phase 1, and the Associate Dean of Curriculum, instructs faculty in best practices for syllabi creation and maintenance, ensuring accuracy and alignment with accreditation standards and requirements. Supports the Phase 1 Curriculum sub-committee operations, including meeting coordination, materials preparation, document management, task accountability, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) processes. Supports Curriculum Committee operations, as needed. Manages curricular records and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, continuity, and compliance with LCME standards. Student Attendance Trains students in how to use the attendance and absence web portal. In collaboration with the Phase 1 team and the Phase 1 Director, tracks and manages student attendance for Phase 1, ensuring accuracy and compliance with program requirements. Administers the excused absence process, reviewing and approving requests related to illness and other valid circumstances. Team Support & Cross-Training Provides support to other Phase One team members in their respective roles, including needed cross-training among roles What qualifies you for this role Education/Experience Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of administrative experience, preferably in higher education.
