The Senior Office Engineer - Maintenance & Operations provides construction administration and project documentation support to the LAUSD Facilities Services Division, with a focus on Maintenance & Operations capital and repair projects. This role serves as the primary administrative and technical liaison between project managers, field staff, contractors, and the design team, ensuring that all project documentation, correspondence, and compliance activities are managed accurately and on schedule. Job Description Construction Administration & Document Management Manage the full RFI process including logging, routing to the architect/engineer of record, tracking response timelines, and distributing responses to the contractor and field team. Maintain the submittal log; review submittals for completeness prior to routing; track and document submittal disposition and re-submittal cycles. Prepare, distribute, and file all project correspondence including transmittals, letters, notices, and meeting minutes. Maintain and update the change order log; assist project managers in tracking PCIs, CCDs, and executed change orders through the full approval cycle. Maintain organized, audit-ready project files in accordance with LAUSD document control standards and DSA closeout requirements. Field Coordination & Reporting Conduct regular site visits to document construction progress, verify contractor compliance with approved submittals and contract documents, and support OAR field staff. Prepare and distribute daily and weekly field reports; photograph and document site conditions and construction activities. Assist in preparing and tracking punch lists; coordinate final inspection and closeout documentation packages. Support DSA closeout compliance including Form 6 tracking, inspection card maintenance, and deferred approval documentation. Program Support & Coordination Coordinate with the M&O program team to support scheduling of work windows around school operations including summer programs, holidays, and school-year access restrictions. Interface with facilities maintenance staff, school principals, and plant managers regarding project sequencing and site access logistics. Support project controls activities including cost tracking, budget logs, and monthly reporting to program management. Utilize construction management platforms including Procore, eBuilder/Trimble Unity Construct, and Bluebeam for document management and workflow tracking. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Required Experience: Minimum five (5) years of full-time paid professional experience in construction office engineering, construction administration, or project management support on commercial, institutional, or public works construction projects. Demonstrated experience managing RFIs, submittals, change order logs, and project correspondence on active construction projects. Experience on K-12, educational facilities, or other public institutional construction preferred. Experience working on the owner's side or for a CM/owner's representative firm preferred; GC-background candidates will be evaluated with attention to document management and owner-interface experience. Additional Preferred Experience: Experience with LAUSD, LACCD, or other public agency capital programs Familiarity with DSA inspection and closeout processes Experience coordinating construction activities around occupied or semi-occupied school facilities OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Required Education: There are 3 ways to meet the education requirement: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field OR Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in any field, with demonstrated construction administration experience exceeding the minimum requirement OR No degree, with a minimum of ten (10) years of full-time paid professional experience in construction office engineering or construction administration in a qualifying role Preferred Licenses and Certificates: Valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) CLMI Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
