Rural Clinical School Full-time, fixed-term position for 6 months Base salary will be in the range $95,361 - $102,302 + 17% super (HEW Level 6) This is an Identified s25 position and is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates only, as a genuine occupational requirement. About This Opportunity This is a purposeful and community‑connected opportunity to contribute directly to the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical education at The University of Queensland. Based in Rockhampton, this role plays a vital part in delivering the Medical School Growth Strategy, with a strong focus on the CQ‑WB Regional Medical Pathway. Working closely with Indigenous academic and engagement leaders, you will help position UQ as the first choice for Indigenous students while providing culturally grounded advice, advocacy and support across the entire student lifecycle. Guided by UQ's commitment to creating change together, this role offers the chance to make a tangible impact through collaboration, leadership and meaningful community engagement. Key responsibilities will include : Building and sustaining strong partnerships with schools, TAFE, VET providers, regional universities, health services and community organisations to strengthen Indigenous pathways into medicine. Supporting Indigenous prospective and enrolled medical students through admission pathways, transition, academic progression and wellbeing, acting as a trusted first point of contact. Designing and delivering outreach, leadership, mentoring and engagement initiatives that foster aspiration, belonging and student success within the MD program. Providing high‑quality administrative and coordination support to teaching, scholarships and community engagement activities across the regional medical pathway. Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in student support, education, community engagement or a related field, with the capability to operate across secondary, tertiary and community environments. High‑level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently present, facilitate workshops and engage with diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and/or students from diverse backgrounds, applying culturally safe, respectful and responsive approaches. Strong organisational capability, with experience planning, designing and delivering engagement, mentoring or outreach programs, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team. Proven ability to build and sustain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, families, schools, health services, university colleagues and community partners.
