We are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead our multi-site Audio Software development team from Aarhus, Denmark. In this role, you will own the end‑to‑end software development and execution for audio pipeline and wireless audio distribution, across multiple Roku device lines, partnering closely with SoC vendors, QA and globally distributed engineering and product teams. This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable strategizing at the system level and diving deep into technical details when needed.
Responsibilities
- Drive execution and contribute to the audio software roadmap for Roku devices, ensuring robust, high‑performance audio processing across diverse product lines and markets.
- Drive end‑to‑end development for audio features across multiple programs and products in parallel: from early concept and architecture through implementation, validation, optimization, and rollout.
- Act as a dedicated people leader: engage actively in their personal and professional development, provide coaching/feedback and foster a supportive team culture
- Lead the team through a transformation to enable broad use of Agentic development across a large code-base and proprietary tools
- Stay at the forefront of AI tool advancements and their applicability in software and product development
- Work directly with SoC vendors and Porting teams to define requirements, review designs for interoperability, ensure high‑quality PAL and firmware deliveries, and resolve complex field issues.
- Foster architectural decisions within the team, proactively identifying and addressing technical debt accumulation to maintain long-term code health and development velocity
- Define and enforce engineering best practices for audio software: code quality, code review, design reviews, KPI monitoring, performance benchmarks, and regression prevention.
- Partner with globally distributed leaders in hardware, firmware, software, and product/program management to align on priorities, schedules, and deliverables.
- Engage with offshore scaling partners for product sustaining
- Represent the audio software team in cross‑functional forums, communicating risks, trade‑offs, and data‑driven recommendations.

- Experience leading engineering teams; distributed international team experience is a plus.
- Proven track record of building and managing high‑performing engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Hands‑on experience in embedded software development for consumer devices.
- Experience working with real-time audio / video processing
- Experience working with SoC vendors on feature definition, driver/firmware delivery, and joint debug of complex issues.
- Genuine curiosity about agentic development paradigms and AI in general, with a drive to continuously explore how emerging AI capabilities can transform engineering workflows
- Strong background in embedded Linux or RTOS‑based systems, including C/C++ development for resource‑constrained or real‑time environments.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols and wireless communication, including Bluetooth/BLE.
- Deep understanding of SoC architectures used in consumer electronics.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
