The Job: As an Engineer III, you'll be part of our Global Tools & Storage team located in Towson, MD working as a hybrid employee. You'll get to: Successfully carry out the design process to achieve all quality, performance, schedule and cost objectives in a cross-functional environment. Perform hands-on concept development, prototyping, product testing, data collection and definition of product specifications. Independently carry out advanced stack-ups and system analysis to ensure product assembly and functionality remain consistent throughout its lifetime. Investigate design issues & test failures, and effectively identify, recommend and implement corrective actions to components. Partner with cross-functional teams (Product Marketing, Reliability, Field Research) to identify and clearly define customer requirements, and translate those requirements into appropriate product specifications and develop test systems to ensure we meet or exceed customer expectations Meet with suppliers, project stakeholders to review designs and alter as needed. Drive the component and assembly design review Work in a core team of 3-4 engineers/designers to develop a product from start to finish Support prototype builds for engineering and manufacturing teams and initial production lots to ensure that the products are assembled and tested in the correct way to ensure long term product quality Implements design and process controls, conducts root-cause analysis, and apply statistical and Lean Six-Sigma techniques to maintain and improve product quality as problems arise thru the product development cycle Adhere to established engineering processes for all engineering requirements to deliver a product that meets our history of guaranteed tough products The Person: You love to learn and grow and be acknowledged for your valuable contributions. You also have: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of experience Computer literate; MS Word, Power Point, Excel, FEA, 2D/3D CAD (CATIA experience a plus), Demonstrated ability to dissect a problem to find the root cause, design a solution and create a test method to prove out the issue really is fixed.
