Role Overview The Vice President, Payroll will be responsible for leading and overseeing the end-to-end payroll operations for India. This role is accountable for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll execution, while advancing governance, control frameworks, and transformation initiatives. The role requires close collaboration with local HR and global stakeholders across Payroll, Finance, Tax, and HR Operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The incumbent will play a key leadership role in vendor management, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and process optimization, while also contributing to broader regional and global payroll initiatives. Key responsibilities include: Lead and oversee the end-to-end India payroll function, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Manage and ensure compliance with all India statutory regulations, including PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, gratuity, and income tax, while staying current with evolving labor laws and regulatory updates. Lead and mentor a high-performing payroll team, driving accountability, capability building, and a culture of continuous improvement. Drive automation and process optimization initiatives to enhance payroll systems, reporting, and operational efficiency. Build and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with HR (Benefits, Mobility, HRBPs), Finance (FP&A, Controllers, Accounting), and Tax teams to ensure seamless data flow, accurate reporting, and alignment of payroll processes Manage the payroll vendor relationships to deliver payroll effectively. Develop and monitor key payroll metrics and KPIs to track operational performance, compliance adherence, and service delivery effectiveness. Oversee audit and compliance activities, including internal audits, employment tax audits, and social security reviews, ensuring timely and accurate response to stakeholders. Knowledge/ Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in payroll operations and statutory compliance, preferably within India and broader APAC regions Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or a related field Knowledge of withholding tax, related tax filings, tax policy and regulations as they relate to India / APAC Countries Proven ability to manage payroll vendors effectively, including adherence to contracts, SLAs, and service delivery standards Solid understanding of HR processes, payroll dependencies, and cross-functional integrations Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (essential); experience with Workday or similar HR/payroll systems preferred Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities Flexibility to support global teams across time zones, including extended working hours when required Competencies Required: A high level of attention to detail A positive and 'can-do' attitude Risk Management Teamwork including collaborating with remote team members Problem solving Desire and ability to provide outstanding service to internal clients Adaptable, resilient and embracing of change.
