Mechanical Engineering Instructor

Responsibilities

• You will deliver high-quality training in Mechanical Craft and Fabrication, supporting trainees in developing core engineering competencies. This will include:
• Introducing and developing practical hand skills, including fitting and filing
• Teaching the interpretation and understanding of basic technical drawings
• Providing instruction on the safe use of workshop equipment
• Promoting and embedding strong workshop Health & Safety practices
• Supporting trainees' progress through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback
• Essential Skills/experience:
• A strong engineering background (mechanical or fabrication experience preferred) certified to a minimum of Level 3 or above
• Practical workshop experience and confidence using hand tools and machinery
• Be proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software)
• You will also have A willingness to learn and continuously develop as a trainer (full training provided) as well as having strong communication skills and a passion for developing others
• Desirable Skills/experience:
• Level 3 Teaching Qualification / DCTS Defence Train The Trainer Course or equivalent (successful completion)
• Previous instructional experience in a military or civilian engineering environment (ideally within last 5 years)

• This role is offered on a term time basis working 45 weeks per year, with non-working weeks taken 2 weeks at Christmas and Easter and 3 weeks in August. The salary will therefore be pro rata'd and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
