Position Title: Refrigeration Tech Department: Facilities Engineering Job Description: General Description Under minimal supervision, implements unit specific and facility-wide Refrigeration equipment preventative maintenance and repair solutions that enhance and support OUMC operational and business performance Essential Job Duties Researches, designs and implements facility wide Refrigeration preventative maintenance and repair solutions that enhance and support OU Health operational and business performance. Ensures the Facility Refrigeration equipment runs efficiently. Repairs and maintains existing refrigeration equipment and associated equipment including but not limited to ice machines, water filters, drinking fountains, walk-in coolers/freezers, commercial refrigerators, etc. Completes preventative maintenance tasks on time to ensure compliance with the hospital's utility maintenance program. Maximizes performance through efficient and effective use of the computer system. Determines operational requirements and needs for developing solutions and optimizing performance of existing Refrigeration equipment. Supports all users of applications, equipment and systems with timely implementation and ongoing maintenance of Refrigeration equipment. Assists in monitoring by accessing systems on a computer for Building Automation Systems and Refrigeration temp monitoring system. Understand and comprehend the entire refrigeration cycle as also in HVAC systems. Maintains and enhances a technical body of knowledge. Reads, attends appropriate training/educational programs, benchmarks with colleagues and otherwise remains abreast of contemporary and best practices. Seeks to continually improve processes, systems and consequent services. Uses tools and equipment appropriately. Provides the information necessary to maintain the system of metrics designed to measure effectiveness and timely responsiveness to work order tickets created through appropriate dispatch service. Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment. Adheres to all safety policies, procedures and practices, including the wearing of protective clothing and gear. Consistently uses tools and equipment correctly on the job. General Job Duties Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Education: High school diploma or GED required. Experience: At least 3 years of experience in refrigeration required. Certification/License/Registration: Active Unlimited Mechanical Journeyman license issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board required. EPA 608 Universal Certification Required. Clean driving record and current drivers license issued by the State Oklahoma required within 30 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to understand and interpret regulations associated with The Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care chapters, NFPA, CDC, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and OSHA. Excellent analytical skills are required in order to interpret and resolve complex technical issues, sometimes requiring original solutions in circumstances where the work product or service affects the design and operation of critical HVAC systems and equipment within OUMC. Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to interact with others and discuss complex and sophisticated concepts and systems. Must be able to demonstrate strong technical knowledge of equipment normally associated with healthcare HVAC systems. Participate in on-call rotations to provide emergency maintenance support outside of regular business hours. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
