Pay Grade 9: $69,746.51/year ($70,618.34/year after pay structure increases on June 29, 2026) This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate. Generous vacation and sick leave earnings each year (starting at 12 days each!), plus a variety of other leave types 156% state-matched retirement for state plans, or 101% state-matched retirement for school plans Thirteen paid holidays per year Essential Functions Serves as State Advisor for SkillsUSA and state liaison between the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE), the Nebraska SkillsUSA Association, and the Nebraska SkillsUSA Board of Directors. Coordinates resources, activities, events, and state and national conferences for Nebraska SkillsUSA, and provides training for the SkillsUSA State Officer team. Coordinates resources, activities, events, and state and national conferences for Nebraska SkillsUSA, competitive events for the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference, and completes registration for national conferences and events. Collaborates to recruit and develop new SkillsUSA chapters throughout Nebraska. Provides guidance and technical assistance on selecting and implementing high quality, standards-aligned, instructional resources (e.g., curriculum, digital and open resources, assessment resources), and develops quality assurance processes. Assists with development and delivery of professional development related to Skilled & Technical Sciences. Conducts desk audits and on-site visits to monitor state and federal grant recipients and provide technical assistance related to the development and implementation of grants. Reviews and approves applications, amendments, and reports. Establishes and fosters strategic partnerships among state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and businesses to achieve goals of Nebraska Career & Technical Education (CTE). Maintains regular & reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver's license and travels independently, and works in a variety of settings. Working Conditions and Travel : This position requires approximately 70% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 30% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as conferences, schools, educational service units, and other service agencies. There is also approximately twenty days of overnight travel per year. Requirements / Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in the field of education or related subject area, two years of successful preK-12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school, or equivalent teaching or school administration experience in another state or country, and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per §79-807. NOTE: A Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 92 NAC 21 must be possessed by the time the candidate begins employment at the Nebraska Department of Education and an active certificate maintained while in the Education Specialist position.
