About the role

Chevron's Asset Retirement (AR) organization operates a significant amount of equipment and infrastructure across multiple plant sites in North America. These plants typically consist of water treatment systems including piping, rotating equipment, tanks, and other associated processing equipment. The Operations Engineer will be an integral part of the AR team in optimizing our operating equipment to reduce costs while ensuring we meet required processing specifications. The Operations Engineer will evaluate, recommend, and implement operating and maintenance philosophies to reduce costs by developing new bases of design, developing and implementing maintenance strategies, developing and implementing equipment sparing and idling strategies, and deploying remote monitoring and control technologies. Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Basis of Design: Lead efforts to evaluate existing basis of design (BoD) for each plant and recommend new BoD based upon minimum functional objectives.
  • Operating and Maintenance Strategies: Lead efforts to optimize run & maintain costs of each operating plant by recommending operating and maintenance strategies to reduce both operating and maintenance costs.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Generate reports and provide actionable insights to AR teams and management.
  • Real-Time Monitoring: Continuously monitor operational data from asset retirement operating plants using advanced monitoring systems, and respond to anomalies to ensure swift issue resolution.
  • Technology Utilization: Leverage digital tools and technologies to improve data visibility and decision-making.
  • Operational Coordination: Collaborate closely with field teams to coordinate timely responses to operational challenges. Ensure effective communication and alignment between contractor staff and Chevron staff.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all monitored operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. Promote a safety-first culture.
  • About you
  • Experience with manufacturing and/or water treatment operations is highly desirable.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or a related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in an operations supporting (remote or onsite) or similar role in a manufacturing or oil & gas processing plant. Experience developing and implementing both operating and maintenance strategies for an overall plant.
  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills with experience using data analysis tools and software. Fluent in developing maintenance and reliability strategies for a plant.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams.
  • Adaptability & Independence: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Ability to work independently and self-starter
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to water treatment plants.
