Job Category: Academic Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Research Specialist Job Summary: This position is part-time (.50) and is based in Milwaukee, WI at the Center for Community Engagement and Health Partnerships in Milwaukee (CCE). CCE's work is committed to advancing health research in underrepresented populations using a cultural lens and an asset-based approach to community engaged research recruitment and retention model. CCE focuses on advancing health equity through innovative approaches to include integrating the strength of community with research ideas of investigators to develop successful research programs that to address the needs of Southeastern Wisconsin's underserved and underrepresented populations. This position will serve as the lead to coordination and participation in Milwaukee community engaged outreach research activities to educate and inform the community about clinical trials. This is an outreach position that involves working primarily in the community of Milwaukee conducting outreach, engagement with the goal of recruiting and enrollment. In this role, the person will work collaboratively with Milwaukee and Madison staff coordinators to recruit and enroll participants in focus groups initially, and clinical trials later in the study. This position includes a limited amount of data collection and maintaining databases of information related to potential and enrolled research participants. Weekend and evening work hours may occur as part of the outreach activities. This position is part-time50% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Must provide a valid driver's license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Employment is conditional pending the results of a Pre-hire Driver Authorization Check. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Community engaged research activities. Experience working in outreach and research within communities. Key Job Responsibilities: Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders Functions as primary contact and liaison between research staff in Milwaukee, Madison and surrounding rural areas Develops and Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results Identifies, promotes and maintains external partnerships to support the program Performs literature reviews and writes reports Department: School of Medicine and Public Health, Center for Community Engagement and Health Partnerships
