Job Description: Senior Care Assistant Location: Broad Oak Manor Care Home, Arnolds Lane, Sutton-at-Hone, Dartford, Kent DA4 9HF Contract: Permanent - Full Time Hours: 44 hours per week, covering days Salary: £13.25 to £14.84 per hour depending on experience CQC rating: Good Carehome.co.uk rating: 9.8 / 10 NOTE: This role requires you to have your own transport due to the homes location Broad Oak Manor is a beautiful Edwardian manor house set within a peaceful village, providing residential, nursing and short stay care, including palliative and convalescence care. The home is CQC registered to provide care for over and under 65 years. It's not far from the busy M25 and A2. There are lots of places where residents can seek out company or enjoy a little quiet time, with the home having a cosy feel whilst retaining charming period features. They can get their hair or nails done in the salon, settle down with a book in the quiet lounge, or join in with an activity. The home is surrounded by lovely landscaped gardens. A varied food menu is available, and meals can be enjoyed in a dining room, though residents can choose to eat in the privacy of the bedroom if desired. Snacks, lighter options and homemade cakes are available throughout the day as well as a night bite menu. The home always listens carefully to what the residents have to say, especially when it comes to planning activities. Pamper sessions, flower arranging, movie nights, and arts and crafts among the many activities that residents can choose from seven days a week, including those who are less mobile. You'll help us make health happen by: Day-to-day responsibility for running a unit Supporting with clinical duties, including supporting the nurse to observe, issue medication, review care plans and accurate record keeping Driving and managing a team of Care Assistants, including responsible for all shift handovers of the teams Helping with training and supervision of new staff members so they feel welcomed and supported Building relationships with residents, their families and external teams such as GPs and District Nurses Assisting residents with a range of personal care duties Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role: You'll have completed / working towards an NVQ3 in care. We're more than happy to support you in the completion of your qualification if needed. You're motivated, positive and with great interpersonal skills, and you enjoy working in a close-knit team. You're pivotal in running a unit, working with the Nurse to aid with clinical duties for the home. You have previous experience of the role and knowledge of its rewards and challenges. Just as importantly, you also have a passion for making a real difference to people's lives, giving them the kindness, personalised support and dignity they need.
