Job Summary Under the direction of the Federal Affairs leadership, the Government Affairs Analyst ("Analyst") will work with key external federal stakeholders on Federal matters impacting the business. Execising proactive initiative and independent judgement, tThe Analyst will also collaborate with the business to develop policy positions in support of advocacy efforts with key stakeholders outside the organization.The Analyst will review, analyze, summarize, and distribute to other departments federal initiatives that may impact the Enterprise. The Federal Affairs Analyst will support leadership in the development of thought leadership initiatives to address emerging federal health policy issues. The Federal Affairs Analyst will be involved with a variety of key business stakeholders from across the enterprise in identifying key business issues in federal initiatives and developing alternatives and resolutions.The Analyst will independently own and manage the analysis of proposed and final regulation. As part of these efforts, the Analyst will engage with business leaders in establishing and maintaining company initiatives related to Federal legislative and regulatory issues. The Analyst will proactively and be asked to independently review and make preliminary judgments as to the implications of federal regulatory policies being modified or developed. The Analyst will be expected to clearly analyze and synthesize Federal activities, including Federal legislation and regulations, as well as its impact on existing federal statutes and regulations. The Analyst must be resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to assimilate and analyze a wide variety of information, often working under deadline pressure with senior leaders. Position requires independence and individual judgement during simultaneous action at varying stages-initiation, follow through, and completion-on a number of different projects. Job Description Key Responsibilities/Duties - what you will be doing (top five): Work with Federal Affairs leadership, trade associations and other stakeholders to advance organizational priorities Establish expertise in emerging health policy issues by attending health policy knowledge events relative to the Enterprise. Key capability to apply strategic lens to identify critical elements to escalate to leadership. Using strong expertise in existing legal statutes, the Analyst must independently track, analyze, summarize, and communicate relevant Federal legislation and regulations. Analyses must clearly articulate the guidance in a manner that can be understood and utilized by business and senior leaders. The Analyst will work with the business and Government Affairs leadership to identify potential operational and policy impacts. Provide technical support to departments regarding current, proposed and newly promulgated Federal guidance, including acting as a subject matter expert in support of implementation activities related to newly enacted Federal legislation and regulations. Other projects and duties as assigned. Qualifications - what you need to perform the job Education, Certification and Licensure J.D. strongly preferred Bachelor's Degree required. Health care and/or public policy degree strongly preferred. Experience (minimum years required): Minimum of five years' work experience in a position requiring independent judgment and initiative. Previous experience in a managed care setting and/or regulatory environment preferred.
